  • Monday to Friday;
  • Region:  Lisbon or Algarve (Almancil Office), Portugal

The accountant will be responsible for performing financial tasks and activities within Project Development and Construction Department. The accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, preparing financial statements, analysing financial data, and providing valuable insights to support decision-making. The accountant will work closely with various stakeholders, including management, clients, and auditors, to maintain compliance with accounting principles and regulations.

Profile & Skills

Education 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) are preferred.

 

Experience

 

  • Minimum of 5 years accounting experience with a thorough understanding of accounting standards and principles in Portugal.

 

Knowledge & Skills

 

  • Proficiency in using accounting software and financial systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other office productivity tools.
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English
  • Have a valid Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

Financial Record Keeping and Reporting:

  • Prepare and maintain financial records, including general ledgers, journals, and subsidiary accounts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions, such as income, expenses, assets, and liabilities.
  • Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable and receivable, and other financial statements on a regular basis.
  • Prepare and analyse financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and variance analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.

 

Financial Analysis:

  • Analyse financial data to identify trends, patterns, and discrepancies.
  • Provide financial insights and recommend to management improvements for financial performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Conduct profitability analysis, cost analysis, and financial projections.
  • Assist in financial modelling, scenario analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Identify and address potential financial risks and opportunities.

 

Compliance and Audit:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting principles, standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for external audits.
  • Collaborate with auditors to provide necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Maintain internal controls and contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.

 

Taxation:

  • Prepare and file tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and payroll tax.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in tax planning and strategy.
  • Stay updated with changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure accurate and timely filings.
  • Provide advice and support to management on tax-related matters.

 

Financial Systems and Software:

  • Utilize accounting software and financial systems to process transactions and generate reports.
  • Recommend and implement improvements in accounting processes and systems.
  • Provide training and support to colleagues on financial software and procedures.

 

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and management, to gather financial data and insights.
  • Communicate financial information and findings effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Assist in preparing presentations and reports for management meetings.
